Traditions and skills make Manner unique

Manner has been operating since 1890. It is a Hanko-based family company whose first products were sheet metal work. For example, the nationally famous Finnish biscuits “Hangon Keksi” were packed in tin containers manufactured by Manner soon after the company was established. Over the decades, the company’s business activities expanded into such fields as mechanical engineering, steel component production and metal casting.

The first castor products, wagon bogies, were manufactured in the 1930s, and castors made from sheet metal have been in production since the early 1950s. Castors were chosen as one of Manner’s areas of specialisation, and the company’s development of its castors has been strong ever since. The first plastic castors were manufactured in the 1960s, and since 1974 castors have been Manner’s only product group. Since the 1980s the company has concentrated on strengthening its own product range and expanding its activities in global markets. The first castor entirely made of plastic was manufactured in 1998, and winning the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in 2010 was another important milestone. In the following year, Manner launched the first castor equipped with a central locking system, the e-SMART.
